Description

Assembled during the second week of January during 1969 in Norwood, Ohio, this awesome Camaro is the beneficiary of a serious complete restoration. The no expense spared restoration massaged its rock-solid body into a like new condition. And today, this top-notch pony car is a spectacular classic which combines the best aspects of Chevrolet performance with the gratuitous fun and old school style that only vintage American muscle can provide!

Under the car's Cowl Induction you'll find an original 393286 engine block casting that was used from October 1968 through January 1969 and an engine block stamp and ID of V1211DZ (302 CID /290 HP, build date December 11, 1968) and stamped with the partial VIN number 19N580951. Straight from the factory, Chevrolet's high performance SCCA Mustang slayer utilizes high flow, rectangular port heads, a forged steel crank, forged steel rods and forged aluminum pistons to twist stout 11 to 1 compression into an underrated 290 horsepower! At the top of the red-hot small block, the correct cowl induction air cleaner swirls air into the correct date code Winter intake via the correct 4053 4-barrel carburetor. At the sides of that intake, the date code correct double hump heads prop the correct finned aluminum covers above the correct smog equipment and exhaust manifolds. When fired, the infamous 302 snarls and barks like a real competition piece. Its ancillary components are either date code correct “born with” or GM fresh. And an evenly sprayed combination of Chevy Orange engine skin and satin black fender framing is carefully interrupted by a variety of fresh decals and correct markings.

Back in 1969, the only transmission you could get with your Z/28 was a tough Muncie 4-speed; and the matching numbers transmission is exactly what lives behind this car's original small block. That quick-shifting gear slinger is connected to this cars original BU 0116 G1 3.73 geared 12 bolt rear end. That first-rate drivetrain is held off the ground by a partially restored suspension, which includes the four leaf rear springs and correct mandatory front disc brakes. The reproduction exhaust system just sounds amazing as it's framed by clean floors and very nice paint. Those floors roll on the original wheels carrying their dent free stainless center caps and trim rings.

The standard midnight green interior hiding behind this car's green doors illustrates the true, no frills intentions of Chevrolet's original Z/28. Its bucket seats are to the best of our knowledge original with only the driver's seat possibly being recovered. The remainder of the interior shows hardly any signs of wear. In front of those seats you'll find all the dash components in working order including the Delco AM radio. At the base of that dash, a great looking factory console centers the 'four pack' gauge cluster in front of a chrome Hurst shifter. That seat, dash and console trifecta is completely framed by a tight headliner, fade-free newer carpet and standard door panels that are lined with bright stainless trim. In front of the driver, Chevrolet's classy Rosewood steering wheel, power steering and tilt-wheel really makes this car easier to drive. And behind the passengers, the car's solid trunk has been correctly restored with the correct jack, a full-size spare tire and some fresh decklid decals.

The sale of this blue chip F-Body includes the ever rare Protect-O-Plate, Warranty Card, Owners Manual, and a state inspection report with the original plastic that held these documents together. To me, “IMPRESSIVE” likely is the best word that definitely describes this car. Given the crops of clones and fakes that popped up as the marque gained popularity, having a correct example is now what separates the enthusiasts from the fans. If you want a pony car that'll draw a crowd for reasons other than bright paint and aftermarket badges, this investment grade generation one Camaro Z/28 is exactly what you're looking for!
